MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) will deport eight illegal aliens involved in online scamming, according to BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

Viado said that of the eight, six are Chinese men, one Vietnamese man, and one Chinese. They were arrested on October 22 in Alabang, Muntinlupa, by agents from the Bureau’s intelligence division after receiving information about smaller “pockets” of scamming operations because of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) shutdown in the country.

“We have found reason to file deportation cases against them,” Viado said in a statement.
